The 1985 European three-cushion championship was the 43rd tournament in this discipline of carom billiards and took place from March 22nd to 24th, 1985 in Amersfoort . It was the ninth three-cushion European Championship in the Netherlands.

history

The 22-year-old Swede Torbjörn Blomdahl won his first international title in his fourth European Championship . He defeated record European champion Raymond Ceulemans in the semifinals and defending champion Rini van Bracht in the final. He showed his class with the best general average (GD) of all participants. The Belgian Ceulemans secured the bronze medal in the game for third place against the French Egidio Vierat. After winning the group in the quarter-finals against Vierat, the German champion Dieter Müller literally broke in with a 14:50 defeat and was disappointing only seventh for him. The tournament was played again at a distance of 50 points. The sentence system has not yet been fully accepted by the actors.

In the preliminary round, the game was played in the “everyone against everyone” system with up to 50 points with an equal number of additional points . The first two in the group qualified for the quarter-finals. The losers in the knockout games played out places three to eight.
