The three-cushion European championship 2010 was the 67th tournament in this discipline of carom billiards and took place from June 24th to 27th, 2010 in St. Wendel in Saarland. It was the seventh three-cushion European Championship in Germany.
The group stage of this European Championship went without any major surprises. From the round of 16, where every defeat means the end, there were some extremely close decisions. The best game of the last sixteen was played by the German champion Martin Horn against the best all-rounder in the world Frédéric Caudron . In an exciting 5-set match, Horn won in the fifth set with 15:14 in 7 shots. In the quarterfinals, however, he had the bad luck of having to play against the outstanding player of the season Dick Jaspers . Jaspers played the best match of the tournament against Horn. Jaspers finished the first sentence in the second take with a series of 15 points. He won the second set in a recording with 15-0. In the third set, Horn got at least 14 points and thus lost with 0: 3 sets. The defending champion Daniel Sánchez lost after 2: 1 set lead with 2: 3 sets against the Turk Tayfun Taşdemir . Both semi-finals went over five sets, with Jaspers winning against Marco Zanetti despite the poorer average. In the final, Jaspers had to show all his class. After a set deficit of 1: 2, he won sets four and five in two and three recordings against Eddy Merckx from Belgium and in the end became a highly deserved new European champion with all tournament bests.
