The three-cushion European championship in 1955 was the twelfth tournament in this discipline of the carom and took place from February 10th to 13th, 1955 in Amsterdam .
history
The Dutch metropolis hosted the European Championship for the fourth time after 1932 , 1935 and 1950 . The number of participants fell back to eight players.
The Belgian René Vingerhoedt won for the fifth time in a row. Unlike in previous years, when he always played without losses, this time there was a draw against the Austrian Johann Scherz , who was only last in the end. Runner-up was the newcomer Herman Popeijus from the Netherlands. With a maximum series of 15, he achieved a new European Championship record. The old record 12, from 1948, of the four-time European Championship winner Alfred Lagache was history. Last year's runner-up, Walter Lütgehetmann, had to be content with third place due to the poor general average .
mode
The game was “everyone against everyone” to 50 points with an equal number of shots .
