The three-cushion European championship in 1969 was the 27th tournament in this discipline of carom billiards and took place from January 15 to 19, 1969 in the Dutch seat of government, The Hague . It was the seventh three-cushion European championship in the Netherlands since 1932. This makes the country the record host in this billiards discipline.
history
A three-cushion European championship of records took place in The Hague in 1969. Of course, the Belgian Raymond Ceulemans was once again the dominant player in the tournament. Ceulemans holds all world and European records, with the exception of the World Cup series. The new European record in the general average (GD) now stands at 1.538 . For the first time, a tournament average of over 0.9 was achieved with 0.926 . The victory for Ceulemans at this EM was extremely close. In the last round of the game, Ceulemans and his compatriot Laurent Boulanger met with a tie. So it was a real final, with Ceulemans having a better GD to defend the title with a draw. The big sports hall was filled to the last place during this duel. After initial equilibrium, Boulanger continued to break away and led in the 44th shot with 59:53. But then Ceulemans turned it up again and scored the necessary 7 points in 4 shots. Boulanger then made the draw in the second half. On January 18, 1969, the Dutch Prince Claus was in the tournament hall all day, creating a very special atmosphere. For the German surprise champion Dieter Häring from Berlin , it was only enough for 11th and last place in his first international appearance, albeit only very narrowly.
mode
The game was played in the system “everyone against everyone” to 60 points with additional push / equal intake .
