The three-cushion European championship 2004 was the 61st tournament in this discipline of carom billiards and took place from April 29th to May 2nd, 2004 in Oludeniz . For the first time in the 72-year history of the three-cushion EM, an EM took place in the same country for the third time in a row.

history

With Murat Naci Çoklu, the European Championship had a surprise winner again for a long time. Before the tournament, the player of the year Semih Saygıner was the favorite . But this was defeated in the quarterfinals by his compatriot and eventual winner Çoklu. Half of the eight players in the quarter-finals were Turks. In terms of breadth, Turkey has catapulted itself to the top of Europe. From a German point of view, the tournament was also a great success. Martin Horn won the silver medal for the second time after 1998. With a GD of 1.424, Jens Eggers was third in his preliminary group and could not qualify for the knockout round. Overall, the results did not come close to the record European championship of the previous year.

mode

The tournament was played with 32 participants. In the group games, two sets of 15 points were used to win. From the round of 16 onwards there were three sets of wins per game. Third place was no longer played out.
