Pfersee-Süd is the name for the 16th of a total of 42 statistical districts in Augsburg , which, together with Pfersee-Nord and the Rosenau and Thelottviertel , is assigned to the Pfersee planning area . On December 31, 2013, around 12,400 people lived in an area of ​​around 2,092 km². Pfersee-Süd is thus one of the most populous urban districts of Augsburg.

The city district - starting in the west and then following clockwise - is bounded by the western city limits, Mittleren Weg, Fröbelstrasse, Augsburger Strasse, the banks of the Wertach and Uhlandwiese. In the north, east and south it borders on the neighboring districts of Pfersee-Nord , Rosenau- and Thelottviertel and Göggingen-Nordwest, and in the west on the suburbs Stadtbergen and Leitershofen .

Pfersee-Süd is one of the most populous districts of Augsburg: On December 31, 2013, 12,448 people were registered here, of which 6,592 were female - this corresponds to a proportion of women of 52.96 percent. At 13.79 percent (1,717 citizens), the proportion of foreigners is slightly below that of the city as a whole.

Attractions

The Herz-Jesu-Kirche was consecrated on May 29, 1910 and is the largest Art Nouveau church in southern Germany, with the facade being built in neo-Romanesque style. The church tower is 92 meters high and there is a 6.50 meter high cross on it. The three-aisled basilica is 72 meters long. During the hurricane "Niklas" at the end of March 2015, larger parts of the church roof were damaged and the immediate vicinity of the church was closed due to falling shingles and parts of the insulation.
