The Georgs- und Kreuzviertel denotes one of 41 statistical districts of the Bavarian city of Augsburg and is part of the higher-level planning area downtown . On December 31, 2013, around 3,600 people with primary and secondary residences lived in the 31.1 hectare district.

The Georgs- und Kreuzviertel is located on the northern edge of Augsburg's old town and is bordered clockwise from the west by Volkhartstraße, the streets An der Blauenkap and Am Katzenstadel, Thomm- and Frauentorstraße, Jesuit- and Kohlergasse.

With an area of ​​just 0.311 km², the Georgs and Kreuzviertel is the fourth smallest, but also one of the most densely populated districts of Augsburg (10,489 inhabitants per km²).

Attractions

• The Wertachbrucker Tor forms the border between the Georgs and Kreuzviertel and the neighboring Stadtjägerviertel . It was built in 1370 as a customs gate and later integrated into the fortification of the Fugger city. Today it is primarily used by the carpenters' guild as a representative building and as an event location.
• The fisherman's gate with a wide curved inlet that still serves today as a gate for passage.
• The former monastery church and today's parish church of St. Georg .
• The Catholic Holy Cross Church , important as a pilgrimage church (“miraculous good”).
• The Protestant Holy Cross Church , the first Protestant church in the city.

Clubs and organizations

The Georgs- und Kreuzviertel is the seat of the Augsburg district association of the ADFC with the bicycle self-help workshop Bikekitchen Augsburg.
