Inningen describes a statistical city district in Augsburg , which is subordinate to the planning area of the same name and the same name as Inningen . On December 31, 2013, around 4,750 people lived in the 1,278.5 hectare district.

geography

The urban district of Inningen includes the district of the same name , which is bordered in the west by Diebelbach and the border with Bergheim , in the north by the border with Göggingen , in the east by the motorway-like federal highway 17 and in the south by the city border with Bobingen .

With an area of 12.785 square kilometers, Inningen is the third largest urban district of Augsburg after Bergheim and Siebenbrunn , but with around 4,750 inhabitants it is the third least populated district of the Fugger city after the two mentioned.

history

Inningen, first mentioned in a document in 1071, was already settled during the Roman Empire and was connected by a road in this area that led from Cambodunum (today's Kempten ) to Augusta Vindelicorum (today's Augsburg).

Over the centuries, Inningen developed into an agricultural village in close proximity to Augsburg, which grew strongly , especially during industrialization , which made the place “in the countryside” more attractive and thus also served the citizens of the city as a residence.

In the course of the Bavarian community reforms of 1972, Inningen was incorporated into Augsburg with the recently adjoined Bergheim and has since been the 15th planning area and also the 41st district.

Demographics

On December 31, 2013, 4,748 citizens lived in Inningen with their main and secondary residence, of whom 2,431 - or 51.2 percent - were female. At the same time, 342 people with foreign passports made up 7.2 percent of foreigners, which is well below the average for the city as a whole (around 16.5 percent).

Like all other more rural districts of Augsburg, Inningen is generally rather outdated: The group of 40 to 65 year old citizens was very strongly represented on January 1, 2006 with 1,703 people, followed by the group of 20 to 40 year olds 1,098 citizens and then 459 citizens between the ages of 65 and 75.
