August Weber (General)

Karl August Ferdinand Weber (born October 24, 1795 in Rostock ; † September 8, 1873 in Frankfurt (Oder) ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

Origin and family

August was a son of the Rostock medical professor August Gottlob Weber (1762-1807) and Charlotte Friederica, nee Maizier.

In his first marriage, Weber married in 1824 booties born Priemer, widowed Skander (1793-1842) with Johanna Helene. In 1844 he joined Franziska Philippine Dorothea Charlotte Emilie Selma Feller († 1892) in Gleiwitz for a second time.

Weber had two sons and three daughters.

Career

Weber went to school in Halle (Saale) and entered the on November 2, 1813 Hunter - Detachment of the elf National Regiment one. During the wars of liberation he took part in the blockade of Magdeburg and the battles near Leipzig and Waterloo . With a patent dated December 17, 1841, he was commanded as a cavalry officer to the 1st Battalion in the 22nd Landwehr Regiment on October 1, 1842 and transferred to the 3rd Cuirassier Regiment as a squadron chief on March 22, 1843 . Weber was promoted to major and regular staff officer in mid-March 1850 and was in command as leader of the 1st Landwehr Cavalry Regiment from mid-November 1850 to late February 1851.

On May 23, 1854 Weber was appointed commander of the 6th Hussar Regiment and in this capacity was promoted to colonel until the end of May 1858 . He was then commissioned on July 25, 1859 with the leadership of the 5th Cavalry Brigade , with the Order of the Red Eagle III. Awarded the class with a ribbon and the Order of Saint Anna II. Class and finally put up for disposal on November 13, 1859 with his regimental uniform and pension . At the end of November 1861 he was given the character of major general.
