Ulrich August Wilhelm von Quistorp (born February 17, 1786 in Vorwerk near Lassan ; † December 6, 1849 in Krenzow ) was a Prussian officer.

Life

Ulrich August Wilhelm von Quistorp was the fifth child of Johann von Quistorp (1752-1825), who was ennobled in 1782, and his wife Dorothea, born von Behr (1756-1796). At the age of 15 his military career began in Frankfurt (Oder) in Infantry Regiment No. 24 under General von Zenge. In 1804 he came to the military society under Scharnhorst .

After Prussia's defeat by Napoleon in the battle of Jena and Auerstedt , Quistorp joined Ferdinand von Schill and took part in the defense of Kolberg as commander of the 1st Infantry Company in 1807 . At the age of 21, Quistorp received the order Pour le Mérite .

After the French took Stralsund , Quistorp was able to flee to Rügen by boat . He now joined the Black Group of Friedrich Wilhelm von Braunschweig and in 1809 was the commander of the Schill infantry. In Bohemia he had to cure a serious wound. In Prussia, Quistorp had meanwhile been sentenced in absentia as a deserter.

He went to England in 1810 and joined the Kings German Legion in August 1811 in order to continue to take part in the fight against Napoleonic troops in the Spanish campaign .

When he left the Legion in 1814 and returned to Prussia, he was arrested as a deserter in the Küstrin fortress in October 1814 , but released again in February 1815 and accepted into the army. He took part in the summer campaign of 1815 and was awarded the Iron Cross . In April 1836 Quistorp retired as a lieutenant colonel in the military and managed his estates in Krenzow and Tsarentin near Lassan in Western Pomerania.
