Augustyn Januszewicz

Augustyn Stefan Januszewicz OFMConv , also Dom Frei Agostinho Stefan Januszewicz , (born November 29, 1930 in Podwojponie , Poland ; † March 20, 2011 in Brasília , Brazil ) was a Polish religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Luziânia .

Life

Augustyn Januszewicz joined the religious order of the Minorites in 1950 and made perpetual profession on October 4, 1954 . He was ordained priest on August 3, 1958 by Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński , Archbishop of Warsaw and Gniezno , and then went on a mission. In 1974 he received his doctorate in systematic theology .

Pope John Paul II appointed him on March 29, 1989 as the first bishop of the diocese of Luziânia, established on the same date . The Archbishop of Brasília , José Cardinal Freire Falcão , donated him episcopal ordination on June 10 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Manuel Pestana Filho , Bishop of Anápolis , and José da Silva Chaves , Bishop of Uruaçu .

He was the founder of the Maximilian Kolbe Province of the Minorites in Brazil.

On September 15, 2004, Pope John Paul II accepted his early resignation.
