Granschütz is a district of the town of Hohenmölsen in the Burgenland district in Saxony-Anhalt .

Granschütz is located southeast of Weißenfels am Auensee, a residual open pit. Aupitz was designated as a district of the former municipality.

history

In the Saxon Brethren War from 1445 to 1451, Granschütz was destroyed by episcopal mercenaries. The plague kills fifteen people in 1680. After the Congress of Vienna in 1815, Granschütz was transferred from Saxony to Prussia . After the discovery of lignite while drilling wells in 1839, lignite was mined until 1918.

On July 1, 1950, the previously independent community of Aupitz was incorporated.

On January 1, 2010, the previously independent municipality of Granschütz was incorporated into the town of Hohenmölsen together with the municipality of Taucha .
