Aurelia Mihai

Aurelia Mihai (born December 11, 1968 in Bucharest ) is a Romanian video artist , filmmaker and university lecturer .

Live and act

Aurelia Mihai studied at the Bucharest Art Academy and graduated in 1994. From 1994 to 1996 she studied with a DAAD scholarship at the Düsseldorf Art Academy with Nan Hoover and then with Valie Export and Jürgen Klauke at the Cologne Academy of Media Arts .

Since 2009 she has been professor for "Basic Film / Video" at the Braunschweig University of Art .

In her work, Aurelia Mihai deals with the clash of cultural, social and political phenomena and events; it links aspects of documentation and science with fiction. Legends and historical events are often the occasion or starting point for a socially critical examination of the present.

Aurelia Mihai lives and works in Hamburg .
