action

The Sylt lifeguard Bente is again taken away by the police because she is the leader of a demonstration against the gentrification of her home island. Bente is personally affected by the exorbitant real estate prices on Sylt, and her old house is also supposed to make way for a holiday home area. This luxury construction project is being driven by real estate manager Kevin Krämer, who combines an island vacation with his bored teenage daughter Lili with this job. During their first involuntary meeting, Bente and Kevin discover that they know each other from the ninth grade. He was madly in love with her then, but Bente giggled and read his love letter in front of her entire school class. In contradiction to his professional assignment and his feelings, Kevin becomes more and more entangled in absurd lies, which are painfully exposed by Bente, who is now genuinely in love with him.

criticism

TV Spielfilm wrote that Katja Studt carried this “mixture of drama and romance” almost alone “with charming truthfulness”, but that the director also showed a good feeling for the father-daughter relationship and “the criticism of the (symptomatic) sell-out of Sylt without If and buts “get across. Tilmann P. Gangloff criticized Tittelbach.tv for the fact that the film follows a narrative scheme that is often repeated on ARD and ZDF, but stated that "the dramedy is still fun" and praised the chemistry between the main actors. Blickpunkt: Film reported that the film was the clear winner of the ratings with a market share of 17.5%.
