The Autoestrada A40 , also known as Auto-Estrada Olival Basto-Montemor or Radial de Odivelas , is one of the shortest motorways in Portugal with a total length of 4.1 kilometers and serves as a connection between the A9 and A36 motorways . It runs in the north-south direction in the greater area of Odivelas .

The motorway corresponds to IC 22. It begins in the municipality of Olival Basto in the Odivelas district at a motorway junction with the A36, the A8 and the Calçada de Carriche , one of the most important entry and exit roads into the capital Lisbon . Passing the town of Odivelas , the A40 ends at a motorway triangle with the A9 near Montemor .
As part of the Grande Lisboa , the motorway is subject to toll. The operator is Ascendi.
