The Autoestrada A22 or Auto-Estrada Via do Infante de Sagres is a motorway in Portugal and part of the European route 1 . The highway starts in Bensafrim and ends in Vila Real de Santo António .

From Spain it is the only border crossing to the Algarve for cars, as the ferry from Vila Real de Santo António only serves pedestrians.

From the border bridge it is toll-free until the second exit (Altura), after which the toll portals where the license plates are registered have started since December 2011. The toll is collected electronically. It can also be paid retrospectively at post offices.
