Avishai Geller (born May 21, 1979 in Palo Alto , California ) is a former American - Israeli ice hockey player who played most of his career with HC Bat Yam in the Israeli ice hockey league.

Career

Avishai Geller first played on the college team of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the American Collegiate Hockey Association . He then went to the Anchorage Aces , who were then playing in the West Coast Hockey League . In 2005 Geller moved to Israel and has since played for HC Bat Yam . With the team from the Mediterranean coast, he was Israeli runner- up in 2010 and 2012 .

International

It was only after moving to Israel that Geller began to play for the national team there. He made his debut at the 2006 World Cup when the Israelis first played in Division I. The team was overwhelmed there, however, and rose again without gaining points and with 3:47 goals. Geller played in Division II in 2007 , 2008 and 2009. After the team was relegated from Division II in 2010 without Geller, he was immediately promoted back to Division II at the 2011 World Cup , in which he was also promoted to Division II in 2012 , 2013 and 2014 stood on the ice for its colors. Since 2011 he has been the captain of the Israeli selection at World Championships.

Geller also took part in the pre-qualification tournament for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , but retired with his team at the tournament in Zagreb without winning a point.
