Bärbel Kofler (born May 24, 1967 in Freilassing ) is a German politician ( SPD ), linguist, and member of the German Bundestag and, since March 1, 2016, the Federal Government Commissioner for Human Rights Policy and Humanitarian Aid .

Life and work

After graduating from secondary school in 1983, Bärbel Kofler first completed an apprenticeship as a bank clerk , which she completed in 1986. In 1987 she acquired the technical college entrance qualification on the second educational path and then began studying computer science at the Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences , which she completed in 1992 as a qualified computer scientist (FH). Bärbel Kofler then completed a degree in linguistics , Russian and Spanish at the University of Salzburg . In 1998 she received her doctorate here as a Dr. phil. with the thesis on language politics and the language situation in the former Soviet Union and its successor states: a sociolinguistic investigation of changes in the language status and language domains of Russian and the other national languages .

After working as an employee of a Salzburg travel company from 1996, she went to Moscow in 1999 as a lecturer at the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) . She then worked as a freelance language teacher from 2001 until she accepted a position as a lecturer at the civil service school in Geretsried in 2002 .

Bärbel Kofler is a volunteer member of the board of trustees of the aid organization CARE Germany .

Political party

Bärbel Kofler has been a member of the SPD since 1991. Since 2001 she has been a member of the SPD district executive in Upper Bavaria and the SPD state executive in Bavaria . Since 2011 she has been a member of the board of the SPD regional group in Bavaria in the SPD parliamentary group.

MPs

Bärbel Kofler was a member of the Bad Reichenhall City Council from 2002 to 2006 and a member of the district council of the Berchtesgadener Land district from 2002 to 2010 . She has been a member of the Traunstein district council for the SPD since 2014.

On September 21, 2004, she replaced the late MP Hans Büttner in the German Bundestag and has been a member of the German Bundestag ever since . There she has been a member of the executive committee of the SPD parliamentary group since October 2007. From 2005 to 2013 she was chair of the German- Ukrainian parliamentary group .

Bärbel Kofler has always entered the Bundestag via the Bavarian State List . Your constituency is Traunstein .

In the 19th German Bundestag , Kofler is a full member of the Foreign Affairs Committee . She is also a deputy member of the Joint Committee and the United Nations, International Organizations and Globalization Subcommittee.
