Böcklingen is a district of Morsbach in the Oberbergisches Kreis in southern North Rhine-Westphalia within the administrative district of Cologne .

Location and description

In a rural, wooded area, Böcklingen is located at the southernmost tip of the Oberbergischer Kreis. The cities of Gummersbach (38 km), Siegen (50 km) and Cologne (75 km) can be reached quickly.

Neighboring districts of Böcklingen are Geiningen in the north-west, Hahn in the south, Niederellingen in the south-west and Lichtenberg in the north-east.

history

First mention

The place was mentioned for the first time in 1311 , in an “Agreement between Gr. v. Berg and Gr. v. Sayn on rights to the Buckelingin copper mine ”. In this contract, Count Gottfried II von Sayn (1311–1354) must give the rights to copper mining - including in Böcklingen - to Count Adolf VI. cede from mountain.

The spelling of the first mention was buckelingin .
