Alzen is a district of Morsbach in the Oberbergischer Kreis in southern North Rhine-Westphalia within the administrative district of Cologne .
Location and description
In a rural, wooded area, Alzen is located at the southernmost tip of the Oberbergischer Kreis at an altitude of 300 m above sea level. d. The border with Rhineland-Palatinate runs at a distance of approx. 600 m . The cities of Wissen / Sieg (12 km), Waldbröl (15 km), the district town of Gummersbach (30 km), Siegen and Olpe (each approx. 35 km) and Cologne (78 km) can be reached quickly. Alzen has around 360 inhabitants and is one of the main towns in the municipality.

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1376 , namely “Hermann v. Wildenburg transfers his court to Alzuna to Albrecht v. Gebhardshain. “ The spelling of the first mention was Alzuna .

Specialty
Our Lady of Fatima is particularly venerated in Alzen . In the branch church Herz Mariä is the Fatima Madonna, which was carried by the Archdiocese of Cologne in 1954. On the 13th of the month the big Fatima celebration begins at 6.30 p.m., in May and October there is also a light procession .
