Bądki ( German Bündtken ) is a village in Gmina Zalewo (Saalfeld) in Powiat Iławski (District German Eylau) in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship .

geography

The place is located in the moraine landscape of the Oberland of the historic East Prussia region , about three kilometers north of Saalfeld ( Zalewo ). The local area is bordered by a forest area (the former Groß Arnsdorfer Wald ) in the north and by the Mühlengraben ( Selewka brook ) in the south . Also in the south, Vojewodschaftsstraße 519 (until 1945 Reichsstraße 126 ) runs through the district without touching the village itself.

history

Bündtken was founded by the Teutonic Order as a Hakenzinsdorf .

In the 19th century, today's district was divided into a rural community Bündtken and an estate district Bündtken. Both were added to the administrative district of Arnsdorf in the district of Mohrungen in 1874 . In 1785 the village was referred to as "noble estate, farm, farm and village" with 33 fireplaces (households), and a lieutenant von Bär was named as the landowner . As part of a territorial reform, the manor district was incorporated into the rural community in 1928.

Until 1945, the municipality of Bündtken belonged in this form to the district of Mohrungen in the administrative district of Königsberg in the province of East Prussia of the German Empire .

Towards the end of the Second World War , the Red Army occupied the region in the spring of 1945 . Soon afterwards the district with Bündtken was placed under Polish administration together with the southern half of East Prussia . Bündtken was renamed Bądki . Where German locals had not fled, they were in the period that followed sold .

Bądki was incorporated into the newly formed Gmina Zalewo. The place is today the seat of a Schulzenamt without any other associated localities.

Mansion

Manor house in Bądki (Bündtken)

Johann Martin Stoppel, the then landowner of Bündtken, had a new mansion built in the neo-Gothic style in 1869 . The architectural details are based on the brick Gothic of the Teutonic castles . The building was constructed on an H-shaped plan with a terrace between the outer wings. There is a park to the south of the manor house. The descendants of Stubble lived in the manor house until 1945. The former manor house is now rented out and cannot be viewed inside.
