Mayorship of Niederkassel

The mayor's office in Niederkassel was an administrative district in the Siegkreis . The area corresponds to that of today's community of Niederkassel and arose from the Mairen Niederkassel, Lülsdorf and Rheidt.

In 1830 the mayor's office consisted of seven villages and two farms. It had 608 houses, six churches and chapels and a mill. After 2977 inhabitants in 1816 and 3003 in 1825, Nieder-Cassel had 3,457 inhabitants in 1828. Of these, 3432 were Catholics and 25 Jews.

The Kirchdorf Niederkassel had 648 inhabitants, the Kirchdorf Rheidt 1110, the Kirchdorf Lülsdorf 583 inhabitants and the Kirchdorf Mondorf 594. In addition there were the villages Ranzel with 229 inhabitants, Stockum with 69 and Uckendorf with 198 inhabitants. The hamlet farms had 26 residents.

Viticulture was practiced on the Rhine, but the quality of the product was only mediocre .

In 1845 the mayor's office had 4,097 residents in 730 houses. 38 inhabitants were Jews , the other Catholics. The villages remained the same as in 1830, but the hamlet farms only consisted of a hamlet farm . The population figures in alphabetical order: Lülsdorf 587 people in 102 houses, Ranzel 270 in 49, Weilerhof 12 in 1, Mondorf 799 (including 22 Jews) in 140, Nieder-Cassel 719 in 130, Stockem 70 in eight, Uckendorf 237 in 40 and Rheidt 1403 Residents (including 16 Jews) in 260 houses.

In 1888 the mayor's office consisted of the rural communities

  • Lülsdorf with 866 inhabitants in 176 households (of which Ranzel with 299 in 58 and Weilerhöfe with 37 in four),
  • Mondorf with 1314 inhabitants in 261 households,
  • Nieder-Kassel with 719 inhabitants in 156 households,
  • Rheidt with 1756 inhabitants in 360 households,
  • Stockem with 70 residents in six households and
  • Uckendorf with 246 inhabitants in 59 households.

In 1927, the mayors were in the Rhine province in offices renamed.

The municipalities of Lülsdorf, Mondorf, Niederkassel (Siegkreis), Stockem, Rheidt and Uckendorf were merged on August 1, 1969 with the Bonn Act to form a new municipality of Niederkassel. This was congruent with the former Niederkassel office .
