B-Seiten Sound is an Austrian reggae band from Vienna .
history
The group originally started in 2004 as a hobby project of some friends and then developed into a permanent band. The driving force was the rapper P.Tah from the radio play crew and the reggae singer Milkman , who had a small hit on the sampler Dancehall Fieber 03 with Mango Chutney . After initially experimenting with dub , they developed into a reggae band. Even before the release of the first album, extensive tours were undertaken, not only in Austria, but also in neighboring countries, Switzerland, southern Germany and the Czech Republic . In Vienna I made contact with the collective Duzz Down San . Finally, the band managed to get a record deal with DHF Records , where after a promo EP in 2008, the debut album You Can't Dance was released. This was distributed by Hoanzl . A video for the song Another Cop Shot was commissioned from the Brazilian production company Geral Films .
In 2009 the band was nominated for the FM4 Award, which is presented as part of the Amadeus Austrian Music Award . In 2010 they contributed the soundtrack to the film Sturmfrei . In 2010 a free live album was released through Bandcamp together with the band Elsa Tootsie .
Music genre
Musically, B-sides Sound lean against the Caribbean Offbeat - Reggae and Dancehall on. They are essentially shaped by the greats of the genre, such as The Upsetters and Bob Marley . However, they mix their sound with various other styles such as hip-hop , jazz , funk and Balkan pop . The texts are mostly in German and black humoristic . The singing consists of rap, toasting and harmony singing .
