BL Stryker is a full- length American crime series starring Burt Reynolds in the title role as a private detective in Palm Beach. The total of twelve episodes were broadcast from 1989 to 1990 as part of a revival of the NBC Mystery Movie, alternating with Columbo and the early canceled series Gideon Oliver .

Former cop Buddy Lee, BL for short, Stryker lives on an old houseboat in Palm Beach . He resigned after failing to solve a series of murders in New Orleans . Back in his home town, he works as a private detective . His roommate, former heavyweight boxer Oz Jackson, and his secretary Lynda Lennox are at his side. Other main characters in the series are Stryker's ex-wife Kimberly Baskin and his landlord Oliver Wardell. In the first episode, Stryker is overtaken by the past when the series of murders from New Orleans now seems to continue in Palm Beach.

Directed by Burt Reynolds (three episodes) among others Stuart Margolin and Hal Needham . The series was executive produced by Tom Selleck . Guest roles included Loni Anderson , Dom DeLuise , Ned Beatty , Douglas Fairbanks junior , Ricardo Montalbán , Julianne Moore , Helen Shaver and Paul Gleason . Neil Patrick Harris appeared as a child actor in one of his early roles.
Burt Reynolds was dubbed in the series by Volkert Kraeft . Stuntman James C. Lewis, who played a supporting role on the series, was Burt Reynolds' stunt double.
DVD release
In 2008 the entire series was released on DVD in the United States. A German-language publication has not yet taken place.
