The type TF 50 tram multiple units and the associated type B 50 trailer cars were a small type of vehicle that was used on the West Berlin tramway from 1951 . The cars corresponded to the public transport association (VÖV) developed dressing trolley .

development

The vehicles were designed according to the VÖV's previously developed type of association. Unlike the cars built in West Germany, the six railcars were not completely new builds. Rather, the chassis were used in the war damaged cars. The railcars 4117 (type TF 14/24 S ), 5531, 5535, 5540, 5552 and 5598 (all type TF 20/29 ) probably served as donor cars. The new car body was delivered by the Gaubschat vehicle works in Neukölln. The sidecars, on the other hand, were designed as new vehicles by Orenstein & Koppel . In contrast to the railcars, they did not have a separate chassis. The six railcars were given the car numbers 6300 to 6305, the eight sidecars the car numbers 1800 to 1807 at the BVG .

There were telescopic sliding doors on the platforms . Instead of the usual two line boxes above the ends of the car, the cars only had one line indicator. Line number boxes were therefore also attached to the side of the doors for better recognition. This marking was not used on the sidecars.

The cars were stationed in the Britz tram station and from there until the beginning of 1963 were used almost exclusively on line 47 between Hermannplatz and Rudow . After the line was withdrawn from Hermannplatz to Britz , the vehicles came to lines 15 and 27 for a short time. With the shutdown of the 15 on July 1, 1966, the cars were also parked. First they were transferred to the Charlottenburg depot . From here, railcars 6301 and 6303 served the deployment trips on line 55 for a few months. In August and September 1967, the cars, with the exception of railcar 6301, were scrapped in the Moabit depot . The preserved car remained with the museum collection of the Berlin Transport Company in Britz and was transferred to the Monument Hall of the German Museum of Technology in Berlin in 1993 .
