history

Bell tower

There is early human evidence in the region, such as the Steinalkenheide burial mound . Badenstedt should be seen as a foundation from the Saxon time. In the Verden document book, the place "Badenstede" is mentioned in a tax register, which was probably created after 1237, but certainly before 1246. According to the Vörder Register , which was made by Archbishop Johann III. Rohde was commissioned by Bremen, the place belonged to the court and parish in Selsingen around 1498, later to the parish of Zeven. Because after 1648 the residents particularly resisted the services for the Zeven school, they applied to come back to the church in Selsingen. That was approved, but there were immediately opposing efforts aimed at remaining in Zeven. In 1783 it was confirmed to the people of Baden that they belong to Zeven. Of the 12 families who lived in the village in 1637, there were probably only seven left in 1669. In 1856 a brick factory was built. In 1860 Badenstedt had 160 inhabitants. In 1947 the Badenstedt cemetery was consecrated.

As part of the regional reform in Lower Saxony , the previously independent municipality of Badenstedt was incorporated into the city of Zeven on March 1, 1974. On June 30, 2016, 379 people lived in Badenstedt.
