Bafodé Diakité (born January 6, 2001 in Toulouse ) is a French football player who is currently under contract with the first division club FC Toulouse . The central defender has been a French U19 international since September 2019 . But he also has Guinean citizenship.
Career
society
Diakité comes from the youth department of Toulouse FC and signed his first professional contract there on October 27, 2018. On December 5, he made his debut in the 1-0 away win against Stade Reims for the first team of Téfécé . He was then used more often in the starting lineup. He scored his first goal in professional football on January 6, 2019 in a 4-1 home win against OGC Nice in the Coupe de France 2018/19 . He was pushed back to the bench in mid-February and only played in the last league game of the 2018/19 season . In the 1: 2 away defeat against FCO Dijon , he met for the first time in the league in his ninth appearance.
In the next 2019/20 season , Diakité rose to become a regular at FC Toulouse under coach Alain Casanova . Due to various injury breaks, however, he only played 16 league games in which he was able to score a goal. Furthermore, he had to accept relegation to Ligue 2 with the club .
National team
Bafodé Diakité, who was born in Toulouse , has both French citizenship and that of Guinea due to his ancestry, which means he is eligible to play for both national teams.
From October 2016 to March 2017 he represented the French U16 national team in eight friendly matches. He then worked for the U18s until June 2019 .
He has been playing for the U19s since September 2019 .
