Jean-Victor Makengo (born June 12, 1998 in Étampes ) is a French football player of Congolese descent who is under contract as a loan player from OGC Nice at FC Toulouse . The midfielder is a former French U21 international .

Career

society

Makengo comes from the Stade Malherbe Caen youth academy , where he joined in 2011. He made his Ligue 1 debut on November 29, 2015 in a 4-1 away win against Girondins Bordeaux . In his first season 2015/16 he made 10 league appearances. In the following season 2016/17 he scored both goals on November 26, 2016 in the 2: 4 away defeat in the league cup game against AS Nancy , which were his first two competitive goals in the shirt of the northern French. These remained his only ones in 20 competitive appearances this season.

On June 9, 2017, Makengo moved to league rivals OGC Nice , where he signed a five-year contract. He made his debut on August 5 in the 0-1 away defeat against AS Saint-Étienne . In his first season 2017/18 with the Aiglons , he only made 8 competitive appearances. In the following season 2018/19 he celebrated his breakthrough in the starting line-up and scored his first goal for Nice on September 25, 2018 in a 2-1 away win against FC Nantes . During the entire season he came to 25 league games in Nice's jersey.

On June 25, 2019 to Makengo joined on loan for the whole season 2019/20 the league rivals FC Toulouse on. The Téfécé secured a purchase option for the midfielder . On August 17th (2nd matchday) he shot Toulouse to a 1-0 home win against FCO Dijon . This season he scored two goals in 19 league appearances, but had to accept relegation to Ligue 2 with the club as the bottom of the table . But he escaped this with the return to OGC Nice after the loan ended in summer 2020.

National team

Makengo has represented his home country France in all junior national teams since the U16 . He celebrated his greatest success so far with the U17s when he won the U-17 European Football Championship in 2015 .
