Lovre Kalinić (born April 3, 1990 in Split , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Croatian football player . The goalkeeper is under contract with FC Toulouse and plays for the Croatian national team .

Career

Kalinić was trained at NK Solin and in the youth of his home club Hajduk Split . After the tall goalkeeper was appointed to the professional split at the age of 19, he played for various lower-class Croatian teams as a loan player in order to gain practice. He only completed the 2015/16 season as a regular goalkeeper with the Hafenstadt residents. He won the Croatian Cup once with Hajduk and was runner-up .

In January 2017 he moved to the Belgian Pro League for KAA Gent and was elected goalkeeper of Division 1A 2016/17 for his first 19 games .

In December 2018, the English second division team Aston Villa announced that they would sign Kalinić in the winter transfer window and sign a working paper with him that is valid until 2023. This was officially confirmed on January 1, 2019.

National team

He made his debut on November 12, 2014 in a friendly against Argentina. Before that, he played six games for the Croatian U21 team from 2011 to 2013 .

At the European Football Championship in France in 2016 , he was accepted as a substitute goalkeeper in the Croatian squad , but was not used. In 2018 in Russia he was a substitute goalkeeper (one mission) with the team as vice world champion.
