Eltville train station

The Eltville Station (also: Eltville (Rhein) railway station ) is the railway station of the city Eltville in the Rheingau at the right Rhine distance from Wiesbaden to Koblenz .

history

The station was opened on August 11, 1856 with the Wiesbaden – Rüdesheim section of the Nassau Rheinbahn . The reception building was initially just an open hall.

On July 1, 1895, the Eltville – Schlangenbad steam tram was opened as the Eltviller Kleinbahn . This drove from the station forecourt through the vineyards and the wine-growing town of Neudorf (today Martinsthal ) , past the high-lying Rauenthal in the Taunus up to the health resort Schlangenbad, which has been known for two centuries . On December 1, 1922, due to falling passenger numbers, the small train was discontinued by the previous owner, Allgemeine Deutsche Kleinbahn-AG and its operating company, Allgemeine Deutsche Eisenbahn-Betriebs-GmbH (ADEG), which had been operating since 1915 .

Infrastructure

The reception building is an eaves , two-story plastered building with a hipped roof , with flatter extensions on both sides.

Eltville station is the only station between Rüdesheim and Wiesbaden Hauptbahnhof that still has a third track. This is occasionally used as a sideline for overhauls. The Eltville train station has a house platform ( platform 1), which is barrier-free, and an island platform for platforms 2 and 3, which can only be reached via the steps of an underpass. Trains run from track 1 in the direction of Wiesbaden and Frankfurt (Main) Hauptbahnhof and from track 2 in the direction of Rüdesheim, Kaub, Koblenz and Neuwied.

The station's points and signals were controlled from 1954 to October 3, 2014 by a push button interlocking (type Dr S2). In 2014 an electronic signal box (ESTW-A) went into operation.

On the station forecourt, a bus station has been set up with stops for the regular services of the ORN to Rüdesheim and Wiesbaden as well as to Kiedrich and Eberbach monastery or to Martinsthal , Rauenthal and Schlangenbad . There is also a taxi stand at the train station and a P + R facility in the direction of the Weinhohle underpass , which can be reached on foot via the Mälzereiweg .
