The station Kirchheimbolanden was the station of the city of Kirchheimbolanden in Donnersbergkreis in Rheinland-Pfalz . It was located at 19.6 kilometers of the Donnersbergbahn . The station was until 1945 through station and then to 1999 terminus . Today the trains stop at a stop about 800 meters from the former train station in the palace gardens .
history
The Kirchheimbolanden station was initially opened as a terminus station in January 1874 , but the extension to Marnheim took place just six months later . After the Pfrimm Valley Viaduct was blown up in 1945, however, the line was interrupted and the station became the terminus. Reconstruction as well as re-alignment were rejected. The total closure of the line finally took place on May 20, 1951 for passenger traffic and on January 1, 1999 for freight traffic .
On May 29, 1999, however, the line was reactivated in passenger traffic. Until the beginning of 2007, the station was served by Rhenus Keolis GmbH & Co. KG . In the course of the division of the company, it went to Rhenus Veniro GmbH & Co. KG , which operated local rail passenger transport on the Donnersbergbahn until December 13, 2014 .
Since December 14, 2014, the SPNV on the Donnersbergbahn has been operated by vlexx GmbH . In the course of this, the regional train line RB 47, which until then ran hourly between Kirchheimbolanden and Alzey , was abandoned and replaced by the lines RE 13 and RB 31. Both lines run continuously in the direction of Mainz , so there is no need to change trains in Alzey.

Kirchheimbolanden is usually served hourly by lines RE 13 and RB 31. In the morning rush hour two trains on the RB take 31 to 5:24 and 7:09 without change of Kirchheimbolanden Alzey and Mainz Main Station to Frankfurt (Main) main station .

Buildings and train stations
The old reception building is on the edge of the old town of Kirchheimbolanden. The building is one of several identical buildings in the Palatinate . It presents itself as a late classicist plastered building and defines the street scene. It is a listed building .
The building houses a café . The space in front of the train station and the former track field are used as a parking lot .
At the current end of the route there are shelters , a ticket machine , information boards and a toilet block .
