The Wörrstadt station is a station of the category 5 on the busy Alzey-Mainz railway . The station is served by the regional train line RB31 and the regional express line RE13 to Mainz and Alzey .

building

The railway line was opened on December 18, 1871 by the Hessian Ludwig Railway. The station building was built in 1892. Similar to Saulheim , it is a three-story clinker brick building with a signal box , but it is not a monument. The goods shed stands solitary next to it.

history

After the privatization of the Federal Railroad in 1994, the company apartments were sold and rented. The reception building has several ATMs , a snack machine and a ticket machine . There are several bicycle parking spaces next to the building. There is also a canopy under which there are several seats.

The Wörrstadt train station was renewed by July 2002. Until August 2007, the station had a mechanical signal box of the type unit housed in the reception building as well as a section block of the type C towards Armsheim and Saulheim . It is the only train station attached to Alzey on the route from Armsheim to Mainz. In addition to two platform tracks, which existed until at least 1993, the station also had a loading street ( loading track ) or a siding .

After 1993 the second track was taken out of service and no longer used and overgrown.

As part of the “ Rheinland-Pfalz-Takt 2015 ” concept for the future , the Wörrstadt station was expanded to become an intersection station . The state has signed a realization and financing contract with Deutsche Bahn and the regional rail passenger transport association Rhineland-Palatinate South for the new construction of the Wörrstadt crossing station , which cost 6.8 million euros. The stop was expanded with a second track and an associated 170-meter-long platform and handicapped-accessible access, the commissioning took place at the 2014/2015 timetable change on December 14, 2014. The new construction enables railway trains to cross . This became necessary because direct train connections from Kirchheimbolanden ( Donnersbergbahn ) via the Alzey – Mainz line to Frankfurt am Main ( Mainbahn ) have been offered since December 2014 during rush hour on working days . The new station went into operation on December 14, 2014.

Infrastructure

The track next to the main track can be driven at a maximum of 80 km / h. The signaling technology with then six main signals , which are controlled via the electronic interlocking (ESTW) Rheinhessen-Weinstrasse from the control center in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse ( Neustadt (Weinstrasse) main station ), enables simultaneous entry and exit. Both platforms can be reached barrier-free via a platform overpass with stairs and lifts and have been given a guidance system for the blind and visually impaired. Furthermore, passenger shelters serve as weather protection for travelers. The passenger information system, the lighting and the platform equipment were also renewed. Most of the work was carried out without disrupting train traffic.

service

The Wörrstadt train station is served every half hour by a regional express and a regional train line.
