Railway stations in Brandenburg |
The Michendorf railway station is the station of the village Michendorf in Potsdam-Mittelmark . It was opened in 1879. Since 1923, another route to Großbeeren begins at Michendorfer Bahnhof . At times, most recently in 1993, it was a long-distance stop. The station building and other facilities are now a listed building .
location
Michendorf is located at 25.8 km on the Wetzlar Railway (Berlin – Blankenheim) and is the starting point for the route to Großbeeren. The train station is about one and a half kilometers from the point where the bypass (Michendorf – Großbeeren) branches off. The center of Michendorf is approx. 500 m south. It is adjacent to Am Bahnhof and Bahnstraße . The next station to the southwest is Seddin train station , which is about four kilometers away. The station Wilhelmshorst is located about three kilometers north-east. In addition, is operating agency in the area of tariff area Berlin C of the Transport Association Berlin-Brandenburg .
history
On May 15, 1879, the station was opened for passenger traffic. In 1915 the entire facility was expanded. The bypass railway (Michendorf – Großbeeren) was opened on September 17, 1923. In April 1945 the station had to be closed due to the war. It was reopened in June of the same year.
On May 23, 1993 Michendorf was even a long-distance stop for ICE trains. The reason was that the further route to Berlin Zoologischer Garten station had not yet been electrified. During this time, the ICE trains continued to the Berlin-Lichtenberg station, connecting trains ran from Michendorf to the Zoo station. For the stop of the ICE trains, one of the platforms had to be extended to 411 meters using a wooden structure. Long-distance traffic was discontinued on July 4th of the same year.
The four railway bridges over Potsdamer Straße in the northern area of the station were originally from 1913/1914 and were replaced by new steel truss bridges by the end of 2017. Almost 16 million euros were invested in the new building.
Investments
Platforms and tracks
The station has a total of four platform tracks on two 76 cm high central platforms . The platform edges of tracks one and two are 158 m long; that of tracks three and four 197 m.
In addition, the platforms, the roofing, the platform pavilion and the pedestrian underpass are under monument protection . The two underpass buildings were built in 1915 and 1938; the roof was built in 1938.
To the southwest of the reception building there were several parking and loading tracks, with the exception of two tracks these have now been removed and partially built over.
Reception building
The station building dates from 1879. In 1915 it was expanded. It is a two-story brick building with a gable roof . The building has been a listed building since 2012 . The building houses six apartments, a restaurant and a practice for psychotherapy.
The German railway sold the building in March 2017 at an auction for 313,000 euros to a private investor. The town of Michendorf, who was bidding, was defeated after initially not showing any serious interest in acquiring the building.
pavilion
There is a pavilion on the platform of tracks 1 and 2 . It was built between 1915 and rebuilt in 1938. It is a steel framework construction.
