Ebracher Forest
The Ebracher Forest is an 11.67 km² community-free area in the Bamberg district in Bavaria .

The forest area in the Steigerwald in the west of the Bamberg district is largely uninhabited. The protected area Der Hohe Buchene Wald in the Ebracher Forst , which existed from 2010 to 2015, comprised a substantial part of the area . The designation of the protected area ( protected landscape component ) was controversial in the region. Proponents saw this as a first step towards a “ Steigerwald National Park ” with the long-term goal of recognition as a world natural heritage site . Critics pointed to the impact on forestry .
Worth seeing
In the southwestern part of the forest area of the Hohe Buchene Wald in the Ebracher Forest, directly on the federal road 22 , is the Steigerwald treetop path , a 1152 m long educational and treetop path .
