In numerous sales and donations, Gerach passed through many hands in the following centuries and at times belonged to the Lords of Schaumburg and von Rotenhan . In 1750 the place became the property of the Prince Diocese of Bamberg . As part of the Bamberg bishopric, Gerach fell to Bavaria during the secularization of 1803. When the borders were adjusted, it was left to the Grand Duchy of Würzburg in 1810 , with whom it finally fell back to Bavaria in 1814.

coat of arms
Blazon : “Split by black and silver; in front a golden rooster turned to the left, in the back a five-pointed red star above a sloping red wavy bar. "
The local coat of arms reminds of the noble von Rotenhan family , owners of the village from the 15th to the 18th century. At the same time, the rooster is the symbol of St. Vitus , to whom the local Catholic Church is consecrated. |

Historic half-timbered houses , stone crosses and rock cellars in the sandstone hill can be seen on a tour of the village . In the district of Mauschendorf is the listed restaurant Zur Jägersruh , one of the oldest in the district.
