Railway stations in Lower Saxony |
The Verden (Aller) station is a separation station and a former branch station of the station class 3 on the railway line Bremen-Hannover and on the railway line Verden-Rotenburg of Minden (Westf) to Rotenburg (Wümme). It is located near the city center of the Lower Saxony district town of Verden (Aller) .
history
The station was opened in 1847 on the Wunstorf – Bremen line. Between 1903 and 1905 the Allertal Railway to Schwarmstedt and in 1911 the Verden-Walsroder Railway was opened. In 1928 the connection to Rotenburg in Hanover (today Rotenburg (Wümme) ) was added. A connection to the nearby American line never came about. During the Second World War, the station was fought over between retreating Wehrmacht units and the advancing British Army, like the entire railway system in the area. In 1966 the Allertalbahn was shut down for passenger traffic, the Verden-Walsroder Railway, which had not been continuously passable since 1936, followed in 1969. While this is still used sporadically for freight traffic, the Allertalbahn was shut down completely in 1995 and then dismantled.
In the 1980s, the restricted level crossings at both ends of the station were lifted. The Verden station remained an express train , later Interregio and finally Intercity stop.
investment
The station, which is laid out in a north-south direction, has a house platform at the station building to the west and two island platforms, the first of which is covered. The house platform and track 2 are intended for Hanover – Bremen traffic. Track 3 is the end point of line 1 of the regional S-Bahn from Bremen-Farge , while trains of the Weser-Aller-Bahn from Nienburg to Rotenburg (Wümme) run on track 4 . Track 5 serves as the starting point for the museum trains on the Verden-Walsroder Railway to Stemmen . Trains of the Regio-S-Bahn stopping more than 5 minutes late on arrival, unless this is prevented by ICs, on the faster passable through track 2.
The freight yard was located in the northern apron of the station, and there are still marshalling and sidings as well as a newer cleaning system for the NordWestBahn . There are park-and-ride parking spaces to the east and west , and a bus station has also been built to the west. The station has been barrier-free since 2006 , the station forecourt was modernized in 2019.
Signal box
The central signal box "Vf" is located in the train station , from which the dispatcher operates the Wahnebergen transfer point in addition to operations at the train station . The adjoining Verden – Rotenburg line with the stations Walle, Holtum (Geest), Westerwalsede and Unterstedt has been remote-controlled by the Hanover electronic interlocking since the end of 2017 . In the event of a malfunction, the line is operated by staff from the Hanover operations center. For this purpose, the “HVX” electronic interlocking, which is housed in a container on site and is regularly not manned, can be switched on at any time. The previous operation of the route through the outdated telecontrol system from Siemens (DUS 501/502) through the Verden mine had to be abandoned due to high susceptibility to failure.
