The railway Frasne-Les Verrières is a standard gauge railway line in the French department of Doubs in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté and is owned by the state-owned rail infrastructure company Réseau Ferré de France (RFF).

The railway line was built by the Compagnie Paris-Lyon-Méditerranée (PLM) and opened in two stages in 1860 and 1862. With the nationalization of PLM, the line became the property of SNCF in 1937 . It has been owned by the RFF since the rail infrastructure was outsourced from SNCF in 1997.

The line continues the line (Paris–) Dijon - Dole –Frasne opened in 1855 via Pontarlier to Les Verrières in Switzerland. The line in Switzerland, from Verrières to Auvernier (- Neuchâtel ), was built by Compagnie Franco-Suisse (FS), in whose capital PLM held a 40% stake. The cross-border line Auvernier – Les Verrières – Pontarlier was opened on July 25, 1860. The merger in Pontarlier took place on November 15, 1862 with the opening of the Mouchard – Frasne – Pontarlier line of the PLM.

From Pontarlier, the Compagnie Jougne-Eclépens (JE) with the participation of PLM built another line via Jougne in Switzerland to Vallorbe (- Daillens - Lausanne ) and opened on July 1, 1875. The line was part of the Paris – Milan connection via the Simplon line from 1906, before the PLM opened the direct Frasne – Vallorbe line through the Tunnel du Mont d'Or on May 16, 1915 . Traffic on the Pontarlier – Vallorbe line ceased on April 19, 1939 and the line was finally closed in 1942 after the tunnel under the Col de Jougne had been blown up in 1940 as a result of the Second World War .

Electrical operation under 25 kV 50 Hz alternating current on the Dole – Frasne – Pontarlier line began on April 25, 1958. Since then, the Pontarlier train station has also been the system changeover point for the SBB's electricity system (15 kV 16.7 Hz), which had reached Les Verrières since 1942 and was extended to Pontarlier on June 3, 1956.

The passenger trains are operated by the national railway company SNCF. On the cross-border route, trains of the Transport express régional (TER) run in regional traffic, and TGV (Paris – Bern) in long-distance traffic .
