The Zlaté Moravce – Lužianky railway is a branch line in Slovakia .

history

The line between Zlaté Moravce and Lužianky was opened on May 1, 1938. This railway line was of great importance during the time of the First Slovak Republic , as it was the only direct connection between the capital Bratislava, the regional capital Nitra and central Slovakia. The more efficient railways Bratislava – Nové Zámky (–Budapest) and Nové Zámky to Levice were occupied by Horthys Hungarians in 1938–1945 by the First Vienna Arbitration .

On February 2, 2003, passenger traffic was stopped. Due to the construction of the Jaguar Land Rover automobile plant , the route between Lužianky and Dražovce was interrupted in November 2015. A realignment is not planned. (As of 2015).
