The Zvolen – Podbrezová line is a single-track main line in Slovakia . It leads in the valley of the river Hron from Zvolen via Banská Bystrica to Podbrezová .

Route description

The route runs in a west-east direction in the valley of the Hron river ( Horehronie region ). The Low Tatras are to the north of the railway line and the Slovak Ore Mountains to the south .

history

The line from Zvolen to Hronec was opened on July 6, 1884.

Today, several local trains and the “Horehronec” express train run daily. Freight traffic is of minor importance.
