The Bankverein Bebra eG was a cooperative bank based in Hesse Bebra in the district of Rotenburg . The bank belonged to the cooperative financial group of the Volks- und Raiffeisenbanken and was a member of the Federal Association of Deutsche Volksbanken and Raiffeisenbanken eV (BVR) and its security scheme .
Business activity
As a universal bank, Bankverein Bebra eG operated all banking transactions with private, business and corporate customers. In accordance with the cooperative principle, customers from the bank's regional business area were mainly served.

The business area essentially comprised the northern part of the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district, the southern part of the Werra-Meißner district (both in the state of Hesse) and the western part of the Wartburg district in Thuringia .

The branch network partially overlapped with the business area of another cooperative bank, VR-Bank Bad Hersfeld-Rotenburg eG, which also has branches in Bebra, Rotenburg and Sontra.
history
Bankverein Bebra eG was founded in 1908 as a savings and loan fund, a registered cooperative with unlimited liability in Bebra . At the beginning of 1959 the first branch was opened in Sontra. In 1963 another branch followed in Obersuhl (today Wildeck-Obersuhl) near what was then the inner-German border . In 1969 the merger with Raiffeisenkasse Breitenbach was completed. In 1974 the office opened in Rotenburg an der Fulda. After reunification , the branch in Gerstungen was opened in 1991, thus expanding the business area to Thuringia.
On January 1, 1999, the merger with Raiffeisenbank Alheim eG took place , which had branches in Alheim-Heinebach and Alheim-Baumbach.
In 2016, the merger with VR-Bank Bad Hersfeld-Rotenburg eG finally took place to form VR-Bankverein Bad Hersfeld-Rotenburg eG .
