Bantling (colloquially also Bantlig ) is a settlement in the municipality of the Austrian city of Dornbirn , in the state of Vorarlberg . Bantling and the nearby Watzenegg are part of the oldest Dornbirn settlement area. The Rotte is mentioned for the first time in a document from 1589 (Bantler Tobel). The gang probably belonged to Watzenegg earlier.
In the 15th century a family Fölk (also Völki) is mentioned in a document. "Völkis Hof" (also: "Völkerhof zur Gacht") was located north of the Bantling parcel. The family also owned property on the lower Fallenberg .
Name derivation
Where the name Bantling comes from is uncertain and there have been a large number of attempts to explain it.

Bantling is part of the Oberdorf district in the east of the Dornbirn settlement area at about 646 m above sea level. A. and is about 1.7 km as the crow flies from the city center of Dornbirn. Bantling is a bit off the road from the mountain parcel Watzenegg to Bödele .
In " Schematismus für Tirol und Vorarlberg " (1839) Bantling is mentioned as an independent hamlet and part of Dornbirn. Also in the " Provinzial-Handbuch von Tirol und Vorarlberg for the year 1847 ".

Population and development
Current population figures are no longer published. Today there are twenty-five residential buildings and various farm buildings, but no religious place of worship.
traffic
Bantling can only be reached by motor vehicle via Bödelestrasse . From Rhomberg, a steep cart path with a 33% gradient leads to Bantling and a footpath via Staufenhof to Bödelestrasse.
Craft, trade
Due to the traffic situation and the limited space, no special handicrafts or commercial operations were created in Bantling. Agriculture still dominates the area today .
Waters
The Bantlingergraben flows north of Bantling and the Eulentalbach (Ulatalbach) borders the settlement area with the Eulental to the south and west.
The well of the settlement has belonged to a well cooperative since time immemorial, which is formed from the surrounding residents. The water in the well comes from four sources. These arise a few hundred meters away on the slope below the Schwende . The water intake and the well were renewed a few years ago.
