biography

Wirth was born as the daughter of a former cross-country skier. At first she didn't want to follow in her father's sporty footsteps. It was only her grandfather who awakened her passion for alpine racing. Supported by her father, who recognized his daughter's talent for movement, she competed in her first FIS races from winter 2004/05 and won for the first time in March 2006. At the beginning of her career, she also competed in super-Gs and downhill runs , concentrated but soon turned to the technical disciplines of slalom and giant slalom.

From December 2006 she participated regularly in the race for the European Cup in part, to the first point, it took until January 2008. In the season 2008/09 scored twice Wirth third in a European Cup Slalom, both in the discipline of competition as well as she was seventh overall. In addition, there was the German junior championship in giant slalom. Immediately after her podium finish in the European Cup, she was accepted into the World Cup team of the German Ski Association in January 2009 . She contested her first race on January 25, 2009 in Cortina d'Ampezzo , but remained without a result until the end of the season.

At the slalom in Levi, Finland on November 14, 2009, Wirth drove into the finals in the first round with the high starting number 54 for the first time in her career in a World Cup race and in the end took her first World Cup points with rank 28. After a few unsuccessful races in the rest of the winter, she was able to score several times in the 2010/11 season . The best result of the season was the 23rd place in the slalom in Flachau on January 11th, 2011. In the European Cup she achieved fourth place in the slalom classification with three podium places in the 2009/10 season . In the next winter she was sixth in the overall European Cup with a total of nine top 10 results.

At the start of the 2011/12 season , Wirth achieved her best World Cup result to date with 18th place in the giant slalom in Sölden . Subsequently, however, it was unable to maintain this level for almost two years because it had numerous failures. On January 5, 2014, she achieved her best ever World Cup result with 9th place in the Bormio slalom . This enabled her to qualify for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , where she was 14th in slalom and 25th in giant slalom.

After announcing her impending retirement from top-class sport on March 2, 2016, she drove her last slalom race four days later in Jasna, Slovakia .
