action

The film shows young people who spend their vacation on the Baltic Sea beach of Prerow in August 1964 . They romp around, sunbathe and play in the sand, go swimming, listen to music or just cuddle with each other.

As always, guitar players have good cards here with the girls. It is the same with Rocco, a professional driver apprentice at the Berlin transport company , who plays a Russian song he has arranged himself and then sings Summertime . His long-time friend talks about the basis of this friendship. He himself explains that he works as a shunter for the railway , wants to go to the NVA voluntarily for three years next year and then intends to qualify as a dispatcher in a signal box . After completing his apprenticeship, Rocco intends to start studying next September.

Three young people on the beach talk about their studies at the University of Education in Karl-Marx-Stadt . One of them is studying engineering education and later wants to teach electrical engineering at high schools or technical schools. He hopes to become a better teacher than his were. Another student wants to become a geography teacher , but speaks only good things about the teachers during her school days, who also had a positive influence on her career aspirations.

Another four young women sitting on the beach talk about their wishes. Someone who wants to study mathematics from September after completing an apprenticeship as a commercial clerk dreams of later working in a research institute or a nuclear power plant . Another, who was training to be a commercial dyer, applied to study graphics , but was turned down. Now she wants to do everything she can to be more successful in the next year, so she is attending a drawing circle at a technical school in Potsdam . Until then she will work in a language boarding school for children with speech disorders.

Other young people have their say. In the meantime, two vintage cars drive across the beach with which their drivers perform tricks. A rider also gallops along the beach. Evening falls, couple goes for a walk arm in arm joking on the Baltic Sea. Four guitar players bring their music around the campfire to the group, which dances and tries its hand at the twist . When the title Oh, oh, Motorbiene is played by Peter Kraus , the engines of the classic cars roar in time.
