Barium stearate is the barium salt of stearic acid . It is a colorless solid that is insoluble in water and ethanol. It is sparingly soluble in benzene and toluene .

use

Barium stearate is used as a lubricant in plastics and metal processing, as a stabilizer for PVC, in water-repellent preparations, for the production of lubricating grease and others. Small amounts of explosives are also added to phlegmatize .
