Considerations on the theory of ecologically oriented planning" with Wolfgang Haber at the Technical University of Munich-Weihenstephan .

Committee work

Political positions

Construction projects

In 2013, Jessel criticized that nature conservation was also used to prevent unpleasant building projects. (2013)

energy transition

With regard to the energy transition , Jessel called for an open discussion about the consequences for nature and the landscape. Until the phasing out of nuclear energy "guidelines" should be defined for nature and landscape. When building new power lines , a precise assessment of the demand and then a careful route selection is necessary. When expanding offshore wind power on the high seas, attention must be paid to the locations in order not to harm whales and sea birds.

With regard to the cultivation of biomass , Jessel required sustainability criteria in 2011 . As a rule, maize is grown in monoculture and Jessel called for the cultivation of maize to be restricted in the crop rotation and the climate-relevant conversion of grassland to cultivation area for biomass to be prevented.

Large protected areas in Germany

In 2011, Jessel welcomed the discussion about a national park in Baden-Württemberg . In their opinion, further national parks need to be re-designated in Germany in order to achieve the five percent target of natural forest development in the National Biodiversity Strategy and to ensure that all large landscapes are exemplarily covered by national parks.

Insect death

In 2018, Jessel saw a connection between the predominant type of land management and insect death . (2018)
