The relationship with his girlfriend Lara threatens to break up, as she surprisingly wants to start studying in Rome, his job bores him and his dream of becoming a successful musician has long been on hold. But then he discovers Rauli Kantas, a talented singer and electric guitarist, among his students. He quickly realizes that this young guitar god could be his last chance to break out of his daily routine and still fulfill his dream of a musical career. Not only out of selflessness, Beck offers the young talent to support him by writing songs for him and making him big. But Rauli also has his own secrets. When Beck's best friend Charlie asks him to accompany him to Istanbul on an urgent matter, Beck, Rauli and Charlie embark on a crazy journey in which Beck has time to think about his life and goals.

reception

The film service described the film as a "[un] entertaining, well-played tragicomedy in the title role". “Initially staged coherently”, the “transformation into a road movie at the expense of the dramaturgical cohesion and the thematic backbone”.

The dpa , on the other hand, stated that Ulmen gave “Beck, who was disappointed with life, wonderfully tragic-comic traits”, but “especially in the first half the script was paralyzed”. The story "only takes off when Beck ventures out into the world", but the film remains "behind its much-praised original".
