history

The Luther parish was separated from the Reinickendorf parish in 1954 . She used the "Lutherhaus" built in 1928 at Baseler Strasse 18 as a place of worship. The new Luther Church was inaugurated on April 3, 1966. The church has been increasingly used by foreign Christian communities since the 1990s. In 2005, the Berlin community of the People's Mission of Resolute Christians moved into the ensemble of buildings after they had given up their community center at Klenzepfad 12.

Building description

The spacious ensemble of church, campanile and rectory is grouped around a small square . The main building consists of the nave and, taking advantage of the differences in terrain, the community rooms and hall in the basement .

The nave has seven parts. The anteroom is located in the first, flat-roofed part, which is preceded by a low extension . Behind it begins the church hall, which consists of the other parts, all of which are covered with pent roofs with paneling on the inside . Each of these parts has a trapezoidal plan . Wall panels stand on the legs of the trapezoid, with exposed concrete on the outside and paneling on the inside. Floor-to-ceiling window bands made of cast glass are located between the different widths of the base sides of the adjoining trapezoids . The front wall of the choir is windowless, in the corner of its side walls floor-to-ceiling ribbon windows cast daylight onto the altar . The flooring consists of ceramic tiles . Above the anteroom there is a gallery on which an organ by Johannes Rohlf originally stood. This has been on permanent loan in St. Nikolaus since 2006 .

Peal

The bell tower consists of vertical, staggered concrete slabs, which are connected to each other by the bell chamber at the top . The ring has three bronze bells, which were cast by the bell foundry Petit & Gebr. Edelbrock in 1966. Each bell bears the bell saying "CHRISTUS FINIS OMNIUM ET CENTRUM" on the flank.
