history

The village was first mentioned in a document on September 19, 1178. Beiersdorf belonged to the manor Pölzig regarding the manor . This belonged to the Wettin office of Altenburg , which from the 16th century onwards was under the sovereignty of the following Ernestine duchies due to several divisions during its existence : Duchy of Saxony (1554 to 1572), Duchy of Saxony-Weimar (1572 to 1603), Duchy of Saxony-Altenburg (1603 to 1672), Duchy of Saxony-Gotha-Altenburg (1672 to 1826). When the Ernestine Duchies were reorganized in 1826, Beiersdorf again became part of the Duchy of Saxony-Altenburg. After the administrative reform in the duchy, the village belonged to the Eastern District (until 1900) and to the Ronneburg District Office (from 1900). From 1918 the village belonged to the Free State of Saxony-Altenburg , which was added to the State of Thuringia in 1920. In 1922 Beiersdorf came to the Gera district .

During the second district reform in the GDR in 1952, the existing states were dissolved and the districts were redesigned. Thus Beiersdorf came to the district of Gera-Land in the district of Gera , which had belonged to Thuringia since 1990 as the district of Gera and which became part of the district of Greiz during the Thuringian district reform in 1994 . On July 1, 1961, Beiersdorf was incorporated into Pölzig.

traffic

From 1901 to 1969, Beiersdorf was connected to the Gera-Meuselwitz-Wuitzer Railway with the Pölzig station in the Beiersdorfer Flur . The station building, which has been preserved to this day, is located on the edge of an industrial park northeast of Beiersdorf. Today it is used as a small museum and as the domicile of the “IG GMWE Bahnhof Pölzig” association.

In addition, state road 1081 runs through Beiersdorf from Seelingstädt- Chursdorf to the Saxony-Anhalt state border near Heuckewalde .

The local public transport is mainly provided by RVG Regionalverkehr Gera / Land . With line 208, Beiersdorf is directly connected to Gera every two hours during the week and at the weekend via Heuckewalde . Furthermore, the bus company "Herzum Tours" connects the place with Ronneburg at irregular intervals .
