The confessional church is an Evangelical Lutheran church building in the 22nd district of Vienna, Donaustadt .

Location and architecture

The confessional church is located in the Hirschstetten district . It is the work of the architect Sepp Schuster and was built in 1955/1956. The simple, free-standing structure in the style of the 1950s has a church tower with a rectangular floor plan and an attached community center. The church building is under monument protection ( list entry ). The confessional church is one of several Protestant church buildings by Sepp Schuster. Around ten years later, he also realized the Trinity Church in Vienna's 14th district, Penzing .

history

The parish of Donaustadt, which is based in the church, belongs to the Evangelical Superintendent of Vienna . It goes back to a preaching station founded in Stadlau in 1926 , which was looked after by the parish of Floridsdorf, based in the Evangelical parish church of Floridsdorf . This preaching station became the daughter parish of Stadlau in 1953 and finally in 1955 the independent parish of Donaustadt. The foundation stone for the Confessional Church was laid on July 10, 1955, and the church was consecrated on November 18, 1956. In 1986 the bell (tone: e´´) was cast by the Grassmayr bell foundry .
