The Bell 214 is a medium-weight helicopter from Bell Helicopter , which was derived from the Bell UH-1 series. The Bell 214ST is a larger and significantly modified twin-engine variant that was introduced on December 22, 1972.
history
Bell began developing the Model 214 in 1970 under the name "Huey Plus". The first prototype was a Bell-205 cell that strong with a 1900 WPS T53-L-703 - shaft turbine was equipped. Later a 2930 WPS turbine was used.
After a demonstration of the prototype of the 214A during a maneuver in Iran , an order for 287 214A was placed there. These were to be built at Bell's Fort Worth facility, while another 50 214As and 350 214STs would then be built under license in Iran. After the delivery of 296 machines of the 214A and 39 copies of the 214C, the Islamic Revolution occurred , after which the plans for an Iranian production could no longer be implemented.
Bell also offered the Bell 214B "BigLifter" for civil use. It received approval on January 27, 1976. The 214B was produced until 1981. Driven by a 2,183 kW (2,930 WPS) Lycoming T5508D turbine, its rotor drive and transmission system correspond to that of the 214A.
construction
Similar in size and appearance to the Bell 205 and Bell 212, the Bell 214 uses a single, more powerful Lycoming LTC4B-8 engine with 2,185 kW (2,930 WPS) and an improved rotor system, resulting in a higher payload and an improved Performance at high temperatures and at greater altitudes could be achieved.

- Bell 214 Huey Plus - the prototype flew in 1970; driven by a Lycoming T53 L 702 turbine with 1415 kW (1900 WPS).
- Bell 214A / C Isfahan - 299 Bell 214As for the Iranian Army Aviation were built from 1972, followed by 39 Bell 214Cs with an external winch and other search and rescue equipment for the Iranian Air Force .
